When I was a young girl and we lived in the Low Country, our house on Vincent Dr. backed up to a tidal creek.  The backyard had a tree swing and a ramshackle dock you could brave if you dared.  My mother would venture out onto the dock with me, holding my hand as we went to get a better look at the water and its inhabitants.
